The Cider House is a stylish rural bolt-hole in a recently converted stone and cob barn - part of a small cluster of outbuildings at the rear of our family home just a few miles from Bridport and the Jurassic Coast. It has been designed to be a holiday cottage that can be used all year round with lovely outside spaces for the summer and a cosy interior with a wood-burning stove for the colder months. It is perfect for couples or works equally well for families of up to 4. We love dogs but sadly have decided, for the moment at least, to keep The Cider House dog-free. We are very cyclist friendly and walker friendly and can give heaps of advice on great bike rides and walks in the local area and along the Jurassic Coast.

Sleeping:

Bedroom with king-size bed and super comfy mattress. Fitted wardrobe and under-bed storage drawers.

Additional mezzanine area above the main living space offering either 1 super-king bed or 2 single beds. Again with super comfy mattress. Chest of drawers for storage.

Sleeping arrangements can be worked out however is most suitable for you...however if you are visiting with kids our thinking in setting the place up was that younger kids might be best in the main bedroom allowing earlier nights for them and freeing up the living space and mezzanine for parents. Older kids can use the mezzanine giving parents the main bedroom. Please note that the mezzanine is accessed via a "fixed ladder" - this has wide flat treads like stairs and grab rails but is steep and we recommend that it is not used by children under 7. For real little ones we have a way of blocking off the ladder to make it safe and removing the temptation to climb…!

Living space:

The main living space has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and plenty of comfy seating. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric fan oven and we have tried to include all the items which we often find missing or of poor quality when we stay away ourselves. Decent pans, sharp kitchen knives, weighing scales and a well stocked drawer of kitchen utensils. There is a selection of board games, TV and DVD player, DAB radio with Bluetooth connection, a small selection of books and plenty of information on the local area including an OS Map which you are welcome to borrow for walks and exploring.

Bathroom:

The bathroom has a large flat-bottomed bath with shower, plenty of fluffy towels, a bar of nice soap and Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner. Please note: the bathroom is only accessible via the bedroom so guests using the mezzanine for sleeping will need to go via the bedroom to access the bathroom.

Outside:

There is your own parking area with space for 2 cars and a private garden area with small lawn, plenty of outdoor seating and a fixed BBQ area. The utility room is separate from the main building and has a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, plenty of space for hanging outdoor clothes and room for at least 2 bikes. We have 14 acres of fields surrounding the house which you are welcome to explore providing that they aren't being used for livestock.
